If you're in a rush, here's a quick 2-minute summary of this blog:

3 Things Koala AI Does Well

  • SEO-Optimized Writing: You can use Koala to make articles that are geared toward showing up on Google, which is handy if you want your stuff to get noticed online.
  •
  • Image Generation: There’s this feature where you can get images made by AI, so you don’t have to look for pictures somewhere else, and it kinda saves you time.
  •
  • Multiple Writing Options: You get to pick between making articles for Google or social media, and even choose which AI model you want, but the fancier option uses more credits.
  •
  • More on the unique features of Koala AI below.

5 Big Mistakes Koala AI Makes

  • Painfully Bad Customer Service: If you ever need help or want a refund, good luck! Getting a response takes ages, and sometimes you just get ignored. It’s super frustrating and honestly feels like they don’t care about you at all.
  •
  • Locked In and Losing Money: Koala forces you into pricey monthly plans, so you end up buying way more credits than you use. Here’s the kicker: if you don’t use up credits, they just vanish at the end of the month — you’re basically throwing money away.
  •
  • Content Gets You in Trouble: The stuff Koala writes is so obviously made by AI, your sites can get in trouble with Google. Tons of people say their websites got banned after using the content, which is a total nightmare for your projects.
  •
  • Bans and Threats for Honest Reviews: If you say anything negative about Koala, even just sharing your real experience, they threaten to ban your account. Some people even got scary messages just for telling the truth. That’s seriously messed up.
  •
  • Zero Support With Integrations: Trying to connect Koala AI with your website? Don’t count on help. Even experts couldn’t get any decent support, so if things don’t work, you’re pretty much stuck figuring it all out alone.

How Much Does Koala AI Cost?

Koala AI pricing plans - Essentials, Professional, Boost, Growth, Elite, Advanced.

  • Essentials Plan – This is $9 a month, and you get 15,000 words in KoalaWriter and 250 KoalaChat messages. It gives you cool tools like GPT-5, Claude 4, images, and SEO stuff. But honestly, you might find it runs out pretty quick if you use it a lot.
  •
  • Professional Plan – For $49/month, you jump up to 100,000 KoalaWriter words and 1,000 chat messages. There's extra stuff like better image models and deep research, which is nice, but the price can feel a bit steep, especially if you don’t need all the fancy features.
  •
  • Boost Plan – This one will be $99 a month, and now you get 250,000 words and 2,500 messages. It’s got everything in Professional, plus articles come out twice as fast. Good for bigger projects, but most people might not need this many words each month.
  •
  • Growth Plan – $179 each month means you get 500,000 words and 5,000 messages with all the features from Boost. It’s really for folks writing tons of stuff all the time, so it feels kinda overkill for regular people, honestly.
  •
  • Elite Plan – At $350 per month, this gives you 1 million words and 10,000 messages. It's only worth it if you're managing a whole team or huge projects. For most, that's way too many words, and it gets pretty expensive quick.
  •
  • Advanced Plan – The top option is $500 monthly and you get 1.5 million words and 12,500 chat messages. Unless you’re running a big content business, this plan feels way too much and just not practical for solo or small users.
  •
  • So should you buy Koala AI? Honestly, I wouldn’t grab it, since all the plans just give you limited credits that disappear every month if you don’t use them up.
Alright, that's my rundown on Koala AI’s prices! If you want more details, I can dig deeper and tell you where I think it shines (and where it kind of misses the mark).

Koala AI Review - What Does it Get Right?

Infographic showing the best 3 Koala AI pros.

Here are the 3 things most people find handy about Koala AI:

  1. SEO-optimized writing:
    • Koala makes it way simpler to write stuff that Google likes, which is the main reason a lot of folks use it.
    •
    • You don’t need to know complicated SEO tricks—the tool handles a lot of that on its own.
    •
    • If you want your articles to show up online, Koala has the tools, but you still have to double-check for accuracy.
  2.
  3. Image generation:
    • You can ask Koala to make images for your articles right in the same spot, so you don’t have to leave and look around elsewhere.
    •
    • Reviews say this saves a bunch of time, and you won’t need another subscription for images.
    •
    • If you like having control, it also lets you tweak or pick the images to fit your content better.
  4.
  5. Multiple writing options:
    • You can pick what kind of post you want, like for Google or social media, which helps if you make lots of different stuff.
    •
    • There’s also a choice between different AI models, so you can decide if you want to use more credits for a better article.
    •
    • People mention that the fancier model costs more credits, so it’s worth thinking about what fits your budget.

“Best AI writer out there. The possibilities are perfect for your writing, from Image generation to interlinks, and creating outlines, this makes it the Swiss army knife of AI writers.” ― Jorge Marques NL

Koala AI Review - What Does it Get Seriously Wrong?

Infographic showing the worst 5 Koala AI cons.

Okay, let’s get into the top 5 things that make Koala AI super frustrating:

  • Painfully Bad Customer Service:
    • If you ever run into a problem or want a refund, don't expect a quick reply. I actually waited days with zero response and eventually just gave up because no one seemed to care.
    •
    • Even if you finally get an answer, it's usually really unhelpful. They might just push you to “explain better,” and when you do, they flat out admit they don't know how to help you.
    •
    • Lots of people say support ignores them completely—emails go nowhere and chat is dead. From my experience, you’re basically on your own if anything breaks.
  •
  • Locked In and Losing Money:
    • Koala makes you buy expensive monthly plans, and I've totally been stuck paying for more credits than I could ever use. There's no option to buy smaller packs anymore, which sucks for smaller users.
    •
    • If you don’t use your credits, they just disappear at the end of the month. I lost out on money, and there’s nothing you can do—no carryover, no refund, nothing.
    •
    • The subscription feels designed to trap you into overspending. You pay for way more than you actually use, and that's just a straight-up waste from my point of view.
  •
Here's a review by Guillaume Gonano FR about their business practices:

“Really shameful business practice, with a subscription system. No longer possible to buy packs individually. Non-existent customer support, whether on the site or on Discord. No response to questions. To be avoided.” ― Guillaume Gonano FR

  • Content Gets You in Trouble:
    • If you use Koala’s AI content on your sites, you’re risking your whole business. Real users—including me—have had entire websites banned by Google after using it. That’s a total disaster.
    •
    • The AI writing is so obviously robotic that search engines detect it right away. The “footprints” are easy for Google to pick up, making your sites a big target for bans.
    •
    • Compared to stuff I’ve tested with ChatGPT-5, Koala’s AI just can’t compete—ChatGPT-5 gets ranked, while Koala stuff gets you blocked. In the end, Koala puts your projects at serious risk.
  •
  • Bans and Threats for Honest Reviews:
    • If you say anything negative about Koala—even with proof—they’ll threaten to ban your account. I’ve seen users lose everything just because they left a real review online.
    •
    • Instead of listening to feedback or fixing stuff, Koala goes after you and even sends threatening messages. I find that messed up and honestly, it just kills trust in the company.
    •
    • Their user agreement literally tries to stop you from saying bad things, which is against the law in a lot of places. That tells you all you need to know about how they treat customers.
  •
  • Zero Support With Integrations:
    • If you try hooking up Koala with your website or another tool, don’t expect any help. My expert developer couldn’t get support either—the answers were slow and useless.
    •
    • They say they have integrations, but when they totally fail, you’re left alone to figure them out. Even after reaching out multiple times, you just get ignored or brushed off.
    •
    • This means if you hit a dead end, there’s basically zero chance you’ll get things working. I flat-out wasted money just trying to make it work with zero help from support.
  •
Here's a review by Konstantin TH talking about their policy issues and poor service:

“Koala AI Writer is a scam. I paid $2500 for a lifetime subscription. After I started discussing the poor quality of this AI writer on the forum, because all websites where I used it went to the search engine ban in just 1-2 months after publishing content on them, the creator of the Koala AI writer banned me and canceled my subscription without refunding a dime of my money. The subscription I paid for was for life, but the creator of this AI writer banned me after 4-5 months just for an honest review with lots of screenshots and other proof. Also, you should be aware of the fact that they prohibit their users from writing negative reviews about them, under the threat of banning the user's account. This is one of the clauses in the user agreement! But this is a violation of the Consumer Review Fairness Act. After my subscription was canceled without any explanation, I wrote several emails to support. All of them remained unanswered. In the end, when I wrote another email that I would write a review about how I was deceived by canceling my lifetime subscription for which I paid $2500, the owner of this service wrote me the following: "If you fraudulently file a dispute or falsely slander me then I will take the necessary action which will include reports to the police, immigration, and your bank." But my review is honest and I have plenty of screenshots to prove it. Threatening and intimidating a customer you scammed out of $2500 dollars by selling them a lifetime subscription and canceling it after 4-5 months is shameful. Avoid it. UPDATE AFTER KOALA RESPONSE: This guy is lying again. Because, FIRST, my account was blocked and for 2-3 months absolutely all my requests to support team remained WITHOUT ANSWER, and only then I started using profanity in my emails. It is very funny to accuse a client of using profanity after you block the account and do not respond to his emails asking him to explain the reasons for blocking for 2-3 months. Also, in the last email this guy wrote to me the following: “You used Koala very actively, spending a lot of credits, so I’m blocking your account.” I spent as many credits as I paid for when purchasing a “lifetime subscription”. This is 1 million words of ChatGPT-3 per month. This is included in my subscription plan. And I couldn’t spend more than what was allowed in my subscription plan. Thus, I used my subscription plan as much as I paid for. As a result, the lifetime subscription was canceled by the seller unilaterally without explanation, and now this guy is trying to make excuses. Thus, if I had used the original ChatGPT-3, I could have used it for 10 years (without any word limits in articles), rather than for 4-5 months in Koala, after which my account was blocked without explaining the reason. Anyway, just remember that this company is violating US law by forbidding its customers to write reviews that they don't like. Absolutely all positive reviews about Koala are written by "affiliate partners" who get %% of sales. I was also offered to write good reviews for %% of sales, but I didn't do it because I found very low quality content that I can't recommend. Avoid these scammers, they sold me a lifetime subscription for $2500 and canceled it after 4-5 months with no explanation, embezzling my money, and threatening me with immigration police (this guy knows I'm an immigrant because we once discussed this with him). But I'm not afraid of that. Moreover, my review is honest.” ― Konstantin TH

That concludes our in-depth analysis. Curious about other Koala AI alternatives? Let's first discuss the pricing details!

What Does Koala AI Cost?

Comparison of Koala AI pricing plans.

Let me walk you through Koala AI’s pricing, because honestly, there’s a lot to unpack—and not all of it is good for your wallet. If you’re hoping to get lots of value for every dollar, you’ll want to pay close attention to these facts from my experience using it.

Essentials Plan ($9/month)

  • You get 15,000 words/month with KoalaWriter and 250 messages/month in KoalaChat. But here's the catch—you can’t save up unused credits, they just vanish every month. So if you forgot to use it all, too bad, you still paid for it.
  •
  • That $9 may look cheap at first, but it adds up quick, especially since you have to pay every single month to keep those same old credits—it's like paying again and again for the same thing.
  •
  • You do get access to GPT-5 and Claude 4, plus a few nice extras like AI images, realtime data, and basic integrations, but honestly, most people barely scratch the surface of these features on Essentials before the month is up.
  •
  • The word count gets cut in half if you use GPT-5 or Claude 4—so your 15,000 turns into just 7,500 words for top models! That's a sneaky way of giving you less for the same money.

Professional Plan ($49/month) Most Popular

  • This plan gives you 100,000 words/mo on KoalaWriter and 1,000 KoalaChat messages/mo. But let’s be real—$49/month is a lot to shell out for words that disappear if you don’t use them.
  •
  • It comes with a bunch of extras like automatic linking, deep research, premium AI images, higher output limits, and API access. But high usage isn’t always practical for smaller teams or solo writers—you’re probably overpaying for features you’ll barely use, based on what I've seen people actually do with this plan.
  •
  • Remember: if you use premium models like GPT-5 or Claude 4, your word credits are counted double. So even at $49/month, that 100k words could really be just 50k if you want the “good stuff.”

Boost Plan ($99/month)

  • You get 250,000 words/mo with KoalaWriter and 2,500 KoalaChat messages, but again, you’re paying almost a hundred bucks a month for words and messages that don’t even roll over.
  •
  • This plan is aimed at heavy users, but let’s face it—if your needs suddenly drop, it’s not like you get to keep what you paid for last month. That can really sting, especially if your workflow changes.
  •
  • Bulk article writing is supposedly twice as fast here, but in my own use, the difference isn’t huge unless you’re literally pumping out content nonstop.

Growth Plan ($179/month)

  • This one cranks things up to 500,000 words/mo and 5,000 KoalaChat messages. But come on—$179 every month is a serious budget-buster.
  •
  • It feels like you’re trapped into a big commitment, and if you don’t keep up super high content output, that’s cash you’ll never see again. Plus, you still get zapped if you use the best AI models—your credits disappear twice as fast.

Elite Plan ($350/month)

  • I’m talking 1 million words per month and 10,000 KoalaChat messages, but honestly, unless you run a giant content agency, who needs this much? And you gotta pay $350 every single month.
  •
  • It really feels like overkill for most people. Even if you do reach those word counts, none of it rolls over, and you don’t own a thing when you stop paying.

Advanced Plan ($500/month)

  • This is even higher—1.5 million words per month and 12,500 KoalaChat messages. If you’re running a publishing factory, maybe it’s worth it, but for regular folks, it’s just way too much and still comes with all the rollover downsides.
  •
  • Again, using premium models eats up those credits fast—double word count reduction applies!

Scale I ($750/month), Scale II ($1,250/month), Scale III ($2,000/month)

  • These plans are pretty wild—up to 10 million words/month and 25,000 KoalaChat messages at the heaviest tier, but you’re dropping thousands of dollars a year—just for word credits that get reset if you don’t use ‘em. I can’t see the sense unless you’re a mega-corporation churning out content every hour of the day.
  •
  • Three times faster bulk article creation is touted as a perk, but in my experience, super fast doesn’t always mean super good quality, and again—the credits you buy still evaporate every month.

Summary—Should You Use Koala AI?
  • All the plans charge you the same amount, every month, no matter if you use all your credits or not. If you skip a month, you’re just tossing money away.
  •
  • The more advanced (and actually good) AI models you use, the fewer words you actually get each month, but the price stays high.
  •
  • Once your month is up or you cancel, those credits are gone for good—so you’re renting words, not buying them.
  •
  • There are way better options out there for people who like to get more for their money.

What’s the Better Alternative? AIDetectPlus
  • No monthly fees, just a one-time payment starting at $9, and your credits NEVER EXPIRE. You buy the credits you need and use them whenever you feel like, stress-free.

#1 - Koala AI vs AIDetectPlus

  • Both Koala AI and AIDetectPlus help you create content with AI, but they’re pretty different in what they offer and how they treat you.
    • Koala AI is all about making SEO articles and images fast, with a bunch of plans that give you a set number of words and messages each month. It’s got some cool tools for Google and social media, but you gotta watch out for the credit limits and the customer support (which, honestly, is kinda rough).
    • AIDetectPlus is like a Swiss Army knife for writing and editing. You get an AI detector, plagiarism checker, humanizer, essay writer, paraphraser, and even PDF chat and summarizer—all in one spot. Plus, you only pay once for credits that never expire, and you get a free trial with no credit card needed. No monthly stress, no wasted money.

    •
    • You can try it for free, and you don’t even need to put in your card. Super chill.

  •
  • Where is Koala AI Better?
    • Koala AI is good if you just want to make SEO articles and images really fast, and you don’t mind the monthly plans or losing credits if you don’t use them up.

#2 - Koala AI vs ChatPDF

  • So, Koala AI and ChatPDF are actually super different, but here’s what I think:
    • Koala AI is mainly for writing articles, blog posts, and even making images—all with help from AI. If you want content for your website or your school project that looks professional fast, that’s where Koala steps in.
    • ChatPDF is all about chatting with your PDFs, like you’re having a convo with your homework or research papers. It lets you ask questions and gives you answers right from the PDF—no more endless scrolling through pages!
  •
  • Where is ChatPDF Better?
    • Super easy chat with any PDF: The side-by-side chat window feels kinda fun, and you don’t get lost in all the text.
    • You can upload stuff in any language, then ask questions in another. Honestly, that’s really cool for school or if you’re reading stuff from other countries.
    • It’s free for smaller PDFs (like up to 120 pages) and you can save your chats even if you don’t have an account. Not bad!
    • More info? Check out ChatPDF here.
  •
  • Where is Koala AI Better?
    • If you want to make fast, easy blog posts or need AI-generated images, Koala AI’s pretty handy.
    • (Not for PDFs though!)
    • Curious? You can poke around at Koala AI here.

#3 - Koala AI vs AskYourPDF

  • These two tools do totally different things, but I figured I’d lay it out so it’s clear.
    • Koala AI is geared towards folks who want to write articles, blog posts, or social media stuff—especially if you care about ranking on Google or want quick AI-made images.
    • AskYourPDF is made for chatting with your documents—like, you upload a bunch of PDFs and just ask questions about them. Super useful if you’re dealing with lots of reading or research.
  •
  • Where is AskYourPDF Better?
    • Multi‑document chat: You can upload & chat across lots of PDFs, making it super simple to pull info from *all* your files at once.
    • Works pretty much everywhere—on the web, mobile, Chrome, even as a ChatGPT plugin—so you don’t have to be tied to one device.
    • Super easy Q&A: just ask a question, and it gives you plain answers. Doesn’t try to be too fancy, which I actually like for everyday stuff.
  •
  • Where is Koala AI Better?
    • You can make articles fast and have AI pick images for you—which is pretty neat if you have a blog or need content in a hurry.

Is Koala AI Legit?

Jim Carry saying No

Short answer - Sorry, it's NOT REALLY worth it.

Here's why:
  • Reason #1: Customer Support That Just Isn't There: If you need actual help or want your money back, good luck. I found it's super hard to get a real response from them, and sometimes you just get ignored. Makes you feel like Koala AI just doesn't care about you once you've paid.
  •
  • Reason #2: You Lose Money on Unused Credits: Koala AI locks you into expensive monthly plans, and if you don't use all your credits, they're just gone at the end of the month. No rollover, nothing back. Basically, you're paying for stuff you never get to use.
  •
  • Reason #3: Content Can Get You Into Trouble: The content that Koala AI creates is so obviously AI-written that people have actually had their sites banned from Google. That's terrifying if you're counting on your site or content for work or school.
Here's a review by Somchai Sanouk RU discussing their experience with Koala Writer:

“Avoid using Koala Writer. This product is marketed as an “AI writer,” but in reality, it’s a low-quality tool that can seriously damage your websites. All the positive reviews you see online are either paid for or written by affiliates earning a commission. Notice how most blogs posting “glowing” reviews about Koala Writer have their comment sections disabled — because they know they would be flooded with negative feedback from real users. My personal experience: I used Koala Writer across more than 30 of my websites. The result? Every single one of them was banned by Google. The content this software generates leaves obvious footprints of automation, and search engines detect it quickly. By contrast, articles written with ChatGPT-5 consistently rank in the TOP-10 for competitive keywords. The difference is huge. ⚠️ Conclusion: Koala Writer is not a helper but a threat to your business. Stay away from this software if you don’t want to lose your projects.” ― Somchai Sanouk RU
